Astrology and You!
                             

          In recent years Astrological Publishing has come a long way! Report services are proud of the high level of competence and insight to be found in the sundry delineations/interpretations that are now possible. Whether a Natal Horoscope; Relationship; or, Forecast Report, or any of the several other forms these, as well as other reports can take, you would be amazed to see the degree of professionalism in what they show.

                  Let me say from the outset, for those of you who are not that familiar with astrology; much of the arcane mysteries have been revealed and opened up to allow anyone access to the understanding of a chart and its delineation. At one time only Kings, Queens and the very wealthy could afford a chart. Astrology has been around for thousands of years, but never has the competence been as high as today.

                 Because we live on Earth, astrology is usually viewed Geocentricly; - all the other heavenly bodies and activities concerned are pictured as moving around the Earth. This is a helpful necessity. Our solar system, and other events and symbolism, like the, "pars fortuna" or Part of Fortune, all become important. Even asteroids can play a role in our search for the unknown. In eastern, or sidereal astrology, as opposed to western ~ or tropical astrology, more concern with the fixed stars of the Zodiacal Constellations become an added indicator and account for a phenomena known as the precession of the equinoxes.
 

         Paramount to the study of astrology is the setting where all of the aforementioned bodies and influences interact with one another. We call this belt-way, the Tropical Zodiac, which extends about 9 degrees on either side and allows for the signs to be spaced about 30 degrees apart. This follows the ecliptic path where the apparent motion of the Sun travels, and the Moon and planets that interact and "occupy" those familiar, "Signs". You know, "My Sun Sign is Aries! What's yours?" For many people, the sun sign they hear so much about IS astrology. Well, not quite! This is but one important point in chart interpretation. Some of the other important references are the rising sign, or ascendant, the moon, its nodes as well as placements in signs and houses and aspects between planets and other heavenly bodies and referenced points.
 

       In this "backdrop" for our Heavenly stage, we find the 12 Mundane Houses, where the many divisions of life and sundry other things provide the field in which the planets and signs move about, forming angles of orbit, which we call aspects. All of this, and more, form the basis of what we call astrology.

      With the usual caveats and disclaimers in a world that is always looking for easy answers to complex situations, people who seek such information as can be learned from astrology should not look upon what it provides as the ultimate truth. Reports, no matter how concise and informative are not intended to take the place of other professional counseling, astrological or otherwise, or the seeking out of other professionals for guidance in life's presentations to us.

WHAT IS A CHART?

      A Chart is a representation of calculated data that serves the basis of astrological research for later delineations, or other research. They are mysterious because they are in the language of the astrologer. Replete with symbols, glyphs and in a format that may seem strange to many, what is contained on such a chart becomes the source of vast amounts of information. Some are very attractive and suitable for framing. All are only as accurate as the basic information given to produce this data. Basics dictate that we know the exact date and time of birth, and location of birth. The more exact the time, the more exact the chart, & so on!

WHAT IS A REPORT?

      A Report is the interpretation, or delineation, if you will, of the aforementioned research into human discovery and those astrological events in the heavens that hold out a "script" about life on earth of us and our lives. Reports can range from five (5) pages to hundreds of pages in length. Most Charts/Reports today are computer generated to exact specifications and professionally presented. Without computers, costs would be many times what they are.

WHAT ARE SOME of the MOST SIGNIFICANT INDICATORS?

      So many things in astrology are significant it is hard to know where to start. Suffice it to say that among these are: The masculinity of our Sun where much of our ego is read, and the femininity of our Moon where we peek at our personal life; and of course our chart Ascendant, or rising sign where we may come to know how we look to others and how we perceive ourselves. In relationships and elsewhere the interplay ofMars and Venus bring the specialness of love, hate, and indifference to the scene of our relationships. Masculine and feminine signs and heavenly bodies play out their roles in interaction with each other, but it is important to bear in mind that we are not necessarily talking about the male and female sexes here. Instead, we are speaking of traits and tendencies.

      We could jump into our system of values as revealed to us through Jupiter, or our obligations as shown through Saturn, and many of the other insights to be found, but all in good time. For now, the above will serve our purposes. And last, but certainly not least, we come to the threshold of our purpose - that question central to our theme:
 

WHAT IS ASTROLOGY?

      Is astrology the art of divination; of predicting events that will occur in the future? Is astrology the art and science of revealing to us the effects that will come from Heavenly causes in the world we experience? Well, the answers to these questions, and more we could ask, may surprise you. Yes, some astrologers may argue that all or some of these definitions of astrology are correct! But I would advance a more modern and yet perhaps very ancient position; that they may only appear to do these things. While the certainty of knowing has no place here in the speculative arena of unknowing, I offer the following for your consideration.

      Which came first, "the chicken or the egg?" Not wishing to confuse or otherwise make the subject more arcane than it already appears, I want to introduce cause and effect! Science and metaphysics are coming closer together with agreements upon unsolved mysteries. Many times the difference between what we call cause and what we call effect is found to be at best a misnomer, at worst a myth! An example of recent discovery might be found in the origination of a lightning strike. While lightning appears to shoot from the sky in a bolt of flashing light to the waiting earth below this is only half true. As lightning steps downward in 150 foot stair steps we have learned that this negatively charged air from the clouds above is usually met by a positive charge from the earth below that can reach upwards to 150 feet. Thus, when they meet, the circuit is completed considerably above our heads and not necessarily where the earth meets the bolt of lightning.

      The point here is not just the optical illusion of lightning, but the idea that we live in an experience of "reality" where all that we see appears separated and apart, therefore giving way to the notion of cause and effect. That is, how something becomes the causative agent of another's efficacious result, or being. Now the concept of apparent separation and therefore cause and effect will come to our physical senses at some level of consciousness and that is not to be argued. But, at a level of reality outside the senses ~ beyond the intellect ~ a much more subtle reality may await us and that is the experience of oneness with the universe ~ or with The ALL!

      What does this have to do with astrology? In the apparent separation of time and space it is easy to believe in outside influences effecting our lives. Looking through the looking glass of time and space ~ the knowing we are one can reveal a unity of seamless effort whereby astrology becomes the mechanism for understanding and at once the revelation of some grand script played out upon the screen of our mind and then projected onto the screen of space. So what is astrology? The means to reveal and explore a dynamic of the universal mind as reflected on the Heavenly stage of the mind.
